What, Where, When and How Often?

The K-Squadron Mogul Team offers an alternative competitive pathway in the NASA performance level programs.  K-Squad is a focused mogul specific training and competition program with the focus of developing mogul skiing and mogul specific aerials skills.  The program provides a full winter calendar of training and competitions. The program also includes a comprehensive spring and fall dryland training program including weekly gymnastics sessions.  Our goal is to provide our young athletes with the skills and experience to be competitive at the provincial and national levels.

Regular season on-snow training begins as soon as possible in November.  Training take place on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) primarily at Nakiska and Wednesday and Thursday evenings at COP.  Sunshine Village is utilized in the early and late season for techncial freeskiing.  Additional training will be offered at other venues as snow conditions and the competition schedule warrant.  Optional add-on summer skiing, water ramp and dryland camps will also be offered as the program continues to develop.

In general, the on-snow training runs from 9:00am to 3:00pm on the weekends with a 45-minute lunch break.  Evening training at COP runs from 6:00pm to 8:30pm.

Training Site:

We are privileged to offer Alberta’s first fully serviced Jr. mogul training venue at Nakiska.  The course will be located at the top of the high-speed Gold chair.  The course will run for a length of 100 meters on a medium blue level slope.  Several mogul lines will lead into a choice of different jumps at the bottom of the course each with a safe landing zone.  The site will be meticulously maintained by a trained staff to insure safety.  This style of course is well suited for entry-level training.  Our course builder has been building junior mogul sites for the Australian youth since 2006 and views the new Nakiska’s site as one of the best yet.
