Nancy Greene Introduction

 

Who?

6 and 7 year olds, born in 2002 and 2003

(Children born in 2001 and 2004 will be considered on an individual basis)

What?

Nancy Greene Introduction is a participation-focused program with the goal of instilling a passion for skiing and ski racing, while developing essential on-snow skills that will enable athletes to conquer the entire mountain. Coaches will use team games, individual challenges, drills, focused freeskiing and varying environments to ensure development and FUN! Optional add-on options of COP night training and Gymnastics in the fall are also available for NGI’s that are looking for a little bit more.

Where, When and How Often?

NGI's train on Saturdays or Sundays at Nakiska

Start Date: January 2nd, 2010 for the Saturday group; January 3rd for the Sunday group

Finish Date: April 3rd or 4th, 2010

No training on Family Day Weekend February 13th/14th

Start Time: 9:30am      Finish Time: 3:30pm

Lunch Break: 11:30 – 12:15 with additional breaks throughout the day as needed

 

How Many Days?

NGI's train for 13 days

Where will we ski?

Nakiska

How often will we race?

NGI's will compete in 2 fun, in-house races at Nakiska

Recommended Pass(es):

Nakiska season pass

Minimum Skill Level:

  • NGI's must be able to ski independently on green and blue runs (e.g. all terrain at Canada Olympic Park or all of the runs on the Bronze Chair and Homesteader and Eye Opener on the Silver Chair at Nakiska)
  • Please contact the Program Director if you are unsure or have questions

Average athlete to coach ratio: 7 to 1 – all athletes will be grouped according to their skiing ability

Program Costs:

Per Athlete

Program Fee (includes all on-snow coaching) $550

Alberta Alpine Registration/Insurance $80

(Mandatory for all registered athletes, includes coverage for all training and races)

Per Family

Family Membership $60

(Includes coverage for family members volunteering at competitive events)

Alberta Alpine Raffle Ticket Fundraiser $100

(This is a fully cost-recoverable fundraiser, only 1 book of tickets is purchased by every family)

Add-on Options for NGI's

  • Gymnastics | Six 1.5-hour sessions at the Altadore Gymnastics Club beginning mid-September.  Balance, Body Awareness and Fun - just $110.
  • Greener Gates (COP Night Training) | Choose one or two sets of four 2-hour sessions one evening per week at COP beginning in January and/or February.  Participate in a variety of drill courses, technical freeskiing and even some time in the terrain park. $110 per 4 sessions or $220 for all 8.
  • Christmas Camp | Spend 3 days of your school holidays on the snow with us at Nakiska, full details to follow after registration closes.
