Volunteer and Fundraising Policy

Volunteer Policy

NASA depends on volunteers to make our organization great. Volunteering promotes team-building and friendship among the parents.  Given that we all need to work together to sow the seeds of our success, it is expected that all parents will donate their time equally to support the program(s) their children are registered in.

Please note that races hosted by your child's club require the participation of at least one parent from each family.   Parent are also encouraged to volunteer as officials for other NASA member club hosted races.

NASA introduced the Volunteer Points Policy in the 2016/2017 season. Parents must complete the following to ensure their $300 volunteer bond does not get deposited:

  1. Volunteer to be on a Member Club Board of Directors, a Member of the Alberta Alpine - Alpine Chairs Board of Directors, a member of the NASA HR Committee, a member of the Black Diamond Bash organizing committee, fulfill the role of Lodge Parent Coordinator OR work one casino shift.

  2. Additionally, parents must obtain at least 100 Volunteer Points per season. Points are awarded as such:

  • 100 points: member of a Race Organizing Committee (ROC)

  • 100 points: Black Diamond Bash Organizing Committee

  • 25 points: volunteer for one race day, regardless of volunteer position

  • 10 points: volunteer for one 1/2 day shift as SARC lodge parent

Volunteer points are easy to obtain throughout the race season. If you are unable to fulfill any of the roles above, but would still like to volunteer, please contact the NASA Executive Director for additional options.

Fundraising Policy

Fundraising for NASA and member clubs is done through a few different avenues. While each member club has it's own casino, NASA hosts the annual Black Diamond Bash to help off-set the costs of operating NASA. This fundraiser is a fun event, held at the end of October or early November of each season, to join together our families in gearing up for the ski season.

There will be absolutely no personal sponsorships solicited under the NASA banner.  The members of NASA will raise funds to offset all the costs for all the athletes. We believe fundraising for NASA is a team effort!

Each family, from U8 to FIS, is expected to contribute to this event through the sale of event tickets, raffle tickets and auction items. If you choose to not attend or contribute, you may also opt-out by paying your fundraising bond upfront. Details of each age group's specific fundraising requirements is available on the program registration link.
