Skimeisters Alpine Racing Club


The U8 program is a single day program that focuses on the continuation of the Gliding Start phase. It is also where athletes are introduced to gate training. Athletes focus on the slalom (SL) and giant slalom (GS) disciplines while still learning to carve through free skiing and play on skis. Parents drop their athletes off with coaches in the morning, pick them up for lunch and drop them back off for their afternoon session. Athletes must be comfortable riding the Silver Chair at Nakiska and must be able to ski from the top of the Silver Chair at Nakiska to the base area lodge unassisted.

Who: Athletes born in 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Prerequisites: If you are a new family to ski club, your athlete must be able to ski safely from the top of the Silver Chair at Nakiska to the base area unassisted.

Please note: you can register for our program mid-season if your athlete needs some additional time in ski school prior to joining ski club. Email us at anytime throughout the season for details at info@skinasa.org.

When: Saturday or Sunday, full day.

Time: Group departs for chairlift at 9:15 am and returns for a parented lunch at 11:30 am. Group reconvenes at 12:30 pm for their afternoon session and finishes their day by 3:00 pm.

Start: Program starts Saturday, December 11, 2021 or Sunday, December 12, 2021 depending on which day you choose. 

New Athlete Assessment: For all new athletes to our program, we will be hosting a new athlete assessment 1/2 day at Nakiska on the weekend of November 27, 2021. Exact schedule TBC.

Days Off: There is no skiing on December 25 and 26, 2021 and January 1 and 2, 2022 for Christmas break. There is also no training on February 19 and 20, 2022 for the Family Day long weekend. 

Christmas Camp: We will be offering add-on, mid-week training over the Christmas school break. Details to follow in the fall.

Wearmouth Cup: All U8 athletes participate together in the Wearmouth Cup on Saturday, March 26, 2022.

Finish: Program finishes Saturday, April 9, 2022 or Sunday, April 10, 2022 depending on which day you choose. 

Team Fees: This program is full for the 2021/22 season.

Additional Fees: $135 per athlete Alberta Alpine Membership Fee and $106 per family for NASA Family Membership Fee. 

Fees Not Included in Program: Equipment, Lift Ticket, Race Entry Fees.

Volunteer/Fundraising Commitment: Please review our Volunteer Policy. There is no fundraising commitment.

Race Starts: U8 athletes will participate in the two-day Reitbauer Cup NGSL South Zone Race and the NASA member club Wearmouth Cup. All U8 athletes will also participate in the NASA House League.

Add-on Programs

Sunshine Training

Spend one weekend per month with your training group at Sunshine. Must have been in our program for at least one season prior to registering for the Sunshine add-on. Registration for this program will be released in the fall to registered members.
